The WriteNOW! Festival of New Works has been established by pivotal(arts) theatre company, inc., with the idea of generating thought provoking theatre, through a process unlike any other in the city of Toronto. The pivotal(arts) Board of Directors accepts submissions for the annual festival in the fall of each year and chooses three or four scripts for a week long production in March of the following year.
The submitted scripts can be at any stage of development and will be workshopped with company facilitators through the process of playLab. After script selection, the playwrights will undergo approximately three months of facilitation that incorporates actors, directors, stage managers, producers and other like-minded artists to achieve a finished, polished product.
After the three-month workshopping process, directors are chosen and the casting is completed. From there, directors have over two months to rehearse the play for The WriteNOW! Festival of New Works.
